Very Hungry

I didn't discover Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar until becoming a mom, and I love it! And it's no surprise that my son loves it too. So it only seemed fitting to throw him a The Very Hungry Caterpillar-themed 1st birthday party. Here are some of the details I worked on.

Pom pom caterpillar

Apple-shaped smash cake for the birthday boy

Apple-shaped cinnamon apple cupcakes for the guests

Crabapples and forelle pears + gumballs as favors

Holy Macarony

Fall is here! And with it comes pumpkin everything. A conversation I had in my head today:

Pumpkin Macaron: Will you marry me?
Pumpkin Ice Cream: Yes. Yes, I will.

Lick the Rainbow

I just got the coolest popsicle mold, and it makes 6 unique ocean-themed popsicles. How cute are these?? You can have even more fun mixing and matching the bodies and tails. :D

Flavors:
Scuba diver = plum
Shark = strawberry
Clownfish = cantaloupe
Pufferfish = cantaloupe + cream
Octopus = honeydew
Whale = Gatorade Glacier Freeze .. 'cuz how else am I going to get blue?

The Square Root of 1

I love planning themed-parties as I love trying to think of all the ways we can incorporate the theme into even the smallest details. Here are some of the pieces I worked on for my son's math/nerd-themed 1st birthday party.

Bowties for the boys and hairbows for the girls

Glasses and bowtie picture props made out of foam and straws

A food-coloring-free and egg-free smash cake for the little guy turning one squared

Fondant-topped blue velvet cupcakes for the guests

Never leave home without them.
